Casey & Jamie : A Lexington Kentucky Wedding

Lexington Kentucky Wedding Photographer

Lexington Kentucky Wedding PhotographerThis past December I found myself in one of the photography my circles and happened upon a post for an opportunity to photograph an upcoming wedding…in less than 2 weeks. While I’m always up to take on a last minute event, this one was different…special.

This couple had been engaged and was planning their wedding for the next year, but circumstances were changing. Jamie’s father had received word from his physician that he was not long for this world. The family, with Jamie’s sister at the helm, went into motion planning the wedding to take place in the coming days.

I’m blessed to work with a lot of brides. These women for the most part tend to plan their “big day” out over time with many fairytale touches. However, the possibility of not having her father walk her down the aisle over shadowed any of those other “details”.

This has to be one of the most moving weddings I have ever been a part of. Every turn was emotion…so much emotion. I must say that simply being a part of it changed me in a very positive way.

It was a blessing.

In the following months Jamie’s father lost his battle with cancer. It’s my prayer that the entire family can look back over the photographs I was able to capture to see just how big of a gift this man was given. Being a father, of 2 girls in particular, I had tears streaming down my face many times. The father/daughter relationship is just different.

When someone says they are having their ceremony at their parents home it can go a lot of directions…well, this was anything but a wrong turn. Tiffany and Chad’s wedding was one of the most beautiful days any of us could’ve imagined. I couldn’t be more thankful to be a part of this day and only hope that our photographs will tell this family’s beautiful story.

Sarah Jane & Jeff’s intimate Natural Arch Wedding

0003_0007_20120824_Sarah_Jane_and_Jeff- Social

I’ve always been someone to go on and on about intimiate weddings. I love the big, over the top magazine style weddings, but there’s something very simple and beautiful about small. I believe it’s safe to say that with this wedding I’ve probably seen the smallest a wedding can be, but I assure you it was not small on beauty and romance.

The ENTIRE list of people in attendance is as follows.

  • Bride
  • Groom
  • Officiant
  • Photographer (Witness 1)
  • Photographer Assistant (Witness 2)

That’s it, that’s the list.

The more I thought about this wedding leading up to it, the sweeter it became. However, once the ceremony started it truly moved me in a way that made me appreciate weddings in a whole new manner.

In a lot of circumstances weddings get out of control and become about more than the bride and groom. It becomes their perfect day plus what parents, family, and friends think should be the “perfect day”.  On this day, it was without question 100% about these two beautiful souls professing their love to each other. A tux and a dress, I assure you there wasn’t any lacking in tradition or sentiment.

It was very powerful to see love expressed in this way.

Jeff & Sarah Jane

I want to thank you for sharing such a powerful ceremony with me.  It was very moving seeing your love in this way and we were blessed to be a part of it. There’s no doubt that love will grow into a long and loving marriage.

Sincerely,

Wes, Chrissa, & everyone with Wes Brown Photography
